Villas in Ayia Thekla - The best of both worlds?
Despite the fact that they can by no means be called
mainstream homes, villas in Ayia Thekla have developed
something of a following with British homebuyers in Cyprus.
Villas
in Ayia Thekla, a small community only minutes from
Ayia Napa
It is largely this small community's location
which can be held responsible for its rapid rise
in popularity with foreign homebuyers since, despite
the fact that the busy resort of Ayia
Napa with
its many amenities is only a few minutes by car,
the seafront village of Ayia Thekla itself still
features a quiet, almost sleepy atmosphere.
But what of the village itself?
What moves an
ever increasing number of overseas property buyers
to purchase villas in Ayia Thekla as opposed to
the many other small communities dotted along
the south and east coast of Cyprus? |

A small village, crystal-clear Mediterranean waters
and an uncrowded beach
What more could anyone want? How about convenient
access to some of the best beaches on the island?
Before getting into some of the other nearby beaches,
it is worth mentioning that Ayia Thekla beach is quite
outstanding in its own right, consisting as it were of
a small (200 or 300 metres) crescent of sand, protected
from the waves by a small island a few hundred yards offshore.
On the subject of other beaches, it is needless to say
that the world famous Nissi beach in Ayia Napa is only
a few minutes distant. If the hustle and bustle of this
resort does not appeal however, the more family orientated
resort of Protaras with its almost equally famous Konnos
Bay and Fig Tree Bay beaches can also be reached within
just a few minutes drive of Ayia Thekla.
Nor is access to the rest of the island any great hardship.
Indeed, the nearby motorway serves as an extremely convenient
connection between the village and the rest of the Republic,
with Larnaca International Airport for example, only a
thirty minute drive away. For those of you with
concerns about traffic noise, please rest assured that
the motorway is not close enough to the village to cause
a disturbance.
If you still need more good reasons to invest in villas
in Ayia Thekla, look no further than the local infrastructure’s
rapid expansion.
The east of Cyprus has been undergoing a number of changes
since the Republic’s accession to full European
Union membership in May 2004. Massive E.U. grants are
responsible for the Famagusta peninsula’s continuing
development as a resort area, with improvements to the
road system and tourist amenities being but a couple of
the many enhancements made both locally and in the Larnaca region.
