The Voreas Tavern (ΒΟΡΕΑΣ)

Consisting of a traditional village house and its charming courtyard, the Voreas Taverna is one of Oroklini's best kept secrets. Located half-way up a tiny side street at the top end of Oroklini village, it is a charming little restaurant which no visitor would ever find this place unless they were told about it.

It's just as well that Voreas is widely acknowledged to be the finest meze restaurant in the Larnaca region, and that tourists in search of local cuisine are almost invariably pointed in the taverna's direction.

The Grada Restaurant & Taverna

Taking a look at the Grada restaurant for the first time, many visitors simply dismiss it as just another tourist trap. This is unfortunate, as the Grada is actually a truly fine eatery, with a local reputation for the best steaks to be found anywhere the area.

This restaurant also boasts a warm, welcoming, traditionally Cypriot atmosphere which is truly belied by its exterior, as well as a more varied menu than most other eateries in Oroklini.

The Corfu Tavern (Η ΚΕΡΚΥΡΑ)

Tucked into the corner next to the meeting point of the two main roads into the village, the Corfu Tavern holds an almost legendary reputation with locals and visitors alike.

Great food, great atmosphere, traditional Cypriot music, fair prices, these are just some of the Corfu Tavern's stong points. Indeed, they are the main reasons behind the Corfu's continued popularity as one of Oroklini's favourite restaurants.

Miltos' Tavern

Miltos' Tavern is the personification of the traditional Cypriot village tavern. Lining one side of the small village square, and with the Oroklini hill as a backdrop, it is an immensely popular place for tourists and locals to meet on long, lazy Cypriot summer evenings to have a drink and socialise.

Like the Mantra Tavern, Miltos' is not the cheapest place in the village, but it can certainly claim to be one of the most atmospheric.

The Alonia Cafe Bar

Set along the main street trough the village, across from Romans Cafe Bar, the Alonia bar has only been open since early summer 2010. Conceived as something of a rival for Milto's Bar and the Kings Cellar pub, one gets the feeling that the Alonia can't make up its mind whether it's tyring to be a sports bar or a traditional Cypriot taverna.

Nevertheless, its two big screens, regular live music events, and extended happy hour have made it quite popular, mainly with Cypriot locals.

The Mantra Tavern

Located on the lower slopes of Oroklini Hill, and featuring a large rooftop seating area with views over the village, the Mantra Tavern is one of the most popular restaurants in area.

With a menu consisting mainly of Cypriot specilities, and regular live entertainment, the Mantra attracts a mixture of local and expatriate customers. It's not the cheapest place to get a meal in the village, but it's well worth a visit on one of its theme nights if you're looking for a taste of Cyprus and a little live music.

Romans Cafe Bar

Romans is something of an odd one out where Oroklini's bars and restaurants are concerned.

For starter, it's one of the few places in the village that doesn't sell food. Then there's its internal decor, which is more like a Norfolk pub than a Cypriot bar. And finally there's the fact that it's the only drinking establishment in the village which does not have a big screen TV, so it tends to draw a clientele which does not care for football.

All in all, Romans is an unpretentious kind of place selling a cheap pint to a mainly British crowd of locals.

The Lithos Bar

The Lithos Bar is attached to the Antonis G Hotel at the top of Oroklini village. It was fully refurbished during the winter of 2011/2012. We'll bring you full details on what's new as soon as we have them.

The King's Cellar

King's Cellar is a bit of a misnomer for this one, as it's not only above ground level, but also attached to the new Oroklini shopping mall next to the main road.

But despite its contemporary appearance and bustling location, this bar has gained substantial popularity since opening its doors back in 2008, and is now one of the main sports bars in Oroklini.
