Answers to common questions about Cypriot mortgages, the crime rate, and more

Is there after-sales care?

Customer care is important to us, which is one of the reasons we are so careful about the developers we associate with, and the properties we offer.

Our associated developers all have excellent track records for customer care, and will usually be able to answer all your enquiries more than satisfactorily.

However, should, for any reason, your enquiries not be resolved to your complete satisfaction, our Cypriot staff will assist you with their wealth of knowledge until matters are satisfactorily concluded.

Is Cyprus' crime rate low?

According to European Union statistics, Cyprus' crime rate is is only 16% of that in the average European Country. Graffiti, vandalism and hooliganism are practically un-heard of.

But contrary to the available statistics, there is actually quite a substantial level of unreported crime in the Republic, which, were it included in the official statistics, would push up the figures substantially. Having said that, these unreported crimes mainly consist of petty thievery, such as your Bulgarian neighbour stealing your lawnmower or garden furniture.

Violent crime, robberies, rapes and murders, on the other hand, are extremely rare on the island, and all-in-all Cyprus is still one of the safest places to live or visit in the entire European Union.

Are mortgages available?

Despite the overall downturn in the global economy, and the fact that mortgages are not as easy to obtain now as they once were, Cypriot banks are still offering mortgages for up to 70% of a property's value, and at average interest rates between 2.45% and 2.75% above EURIBOR.

Please visit our section covering Cyprus Mortgages for further information about what's happening in the Cypriot lending sector, and what's changed over the past couple of years.

What makes Aphrodite Property Sales so different to its competitors?

For starters, we have made this site as informative, entertaining and, above all, as truthful as possible without being starchy, sloppy or patronising. We aim to be professional at all times, but in a useful, friendly way.

Aphrodite isn't just another one of the many British overseas property sellers with little or no on-the-ground experience in the countries they're actually selling homes in. We specialise in Cyprus, and we know it inside out. In fact, these days, most of our staff actually live in Larnaca and Paphos, and have done for some time.

We don't mess around, we don't pressure-sell, we don't try to hide important facts from you, and we never, ever make hidden charges or chase the highest commission.

We know we are the best agents for you, why don't you find out for yourself ?
