These days, the golfing legend is becoming an acclaimed course designer
Nowadays, the retired golfing legend is rapidly gaining fame as course designer, the latest of which is the already prestigious Secret Valley Golf Course, set to become an interweaving 36-Hole golf course of truly spectacular scope and vision.
Tentatively renamed as the ‘Venus Rock Golf Resort’ this course, flanked to the north by a large development of golf properties, is located in a scenically spectacular river valley just south of Kouklia village on Cyprus’ west coast, and is set to become one of the largest and most prestigious leisure-integrated golfing resorts of its kind in in Cyprus, second only to the Limni Golf Resort. |

Secret Valley may become a golfing haven
Contracted to work on the project with the Jacklin Design Group will be Hans-Georg Erhardt, a high-profile golfing architect of over thirty years’ experience who, together with Tony Jacklin, has promised to create something truly special at Secret Valley, if and when construction finally commences
In addition to a pair of spectacular golf course planned at Secret Valley, the resort's master-plan also includes a large-scale golfing academy, a five-star hotel, retail village, health-spa & fitness centre, as well as a magnificent seafront leisure zone, complete with five hundred metres of man-made beach. |
The most magnificent golf resort in Cyprus... on paper
Skirting the resort’s magnificent valley setting and course will be a complex of luxurious golf properties constructed by one of the Republic’s largest property development companies, thus creating an integrated golfing resort somewhat comparable to the famed Vale do Lobos in Portugal. However, while officially part of the Secret Valley Golf and Leisure Resort, and certainly boasting spectacular sea views, these homes do not actually overlook the golf course. In view of other integrated golf leisure resorts currently in the planning and construction stages on the island, this simple fact may prove something of a tactical blunder by Secret Valley's owners. Indeed, comparing the master-plan for Limni's signature courses by Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, with their magnificent villa-lined Fairways, one gets the impression that the golf properties at Secret Valley were included as something of an afterthought.
Nevertheless, judging by this resort's own master plan, Tony Jacklin has something truly special in mind for his own pair of signature Links in Cyprus.
For the moment, however, all talk of Tony Jacklin and Secret Valley is somewhat academic, as the plans for the remodelling of its golf course currently appear to be on hold*, and have been for some time, pending further hearings by the planning committee in charge of issuing the licences for Cyprus new golf courses.
