Properties in Protaras and the neighbouring Cape Greko

With an average 326 sunshine days each year, Cyprus truly is a paradise for everyone seeking that 'SUN LOVING LIFE-STYLE'. As a result, the resort of Protaras has become a haven for sun seekers.

Properties in Protaras

Only 45 minutes from Larnaca international airport in the Paralimni province is the very popular seaside tourist resort of Protaras with one of its beaches, notably Fig Tree Bay being regarded as probably one of the best in Cyprus.

Nearby, another lovely beach is Pernera Beach which is just to the north, whilst to the south of the village is Cape Greko, where if diving and snorkeling is more to your liking, then the rocky shoreline that has some sea caves which continues round to Ayia Napa may be more to your liking. For the protection of parts of the coastline area, the building planning of properties in Protaras is well controlled.

Protected from the wind, the sea is always calm and crystal clear, and with the natural environment (that has very strict government controls), along with the hilly slopes that are covered in lush greenery throughout the year, the ecological charm and character of the area has not been adulterated, thereby attracting local and foreign tourists.

The white washed town of Protaras, especially known for the place to try freshly grilled fish in the open-air seafood restaurants creates a much calmer resort than the noisier, livelier Ayia Napa which is only ten minutes away. Once a small fishing village, Ayia Napa only had a Venetian Monastery to boast of. It lies 40 km to the east of Larnaca and has also become a very popular summer resort, more so now for families after the mayoress cleaned the resort’s image up by stopping the ‘lager lout’ mentality that plagued it during the last decade.

Properties in Protaras are becoming extremely popular to purchase as they offer very good value for money, a mixture of apartments, townhouses and small villas to suit everyone’s pocket. Due to the location and facilities, the area also provides a good income for holiday homes from rental for those not wishing to use the many hotels.

The resort boasts an Ocean Aquarium with over a thousand species of sea life that can be viewed providing a memorable aquatic experience. This is in addition to the well renowned breathtaking view of the Ayios Elias Church that can be admired.
After most of the province of Famagusta (Ammochostos) was captured by Turkish forces, the small town of Paralimni with a population of approximately 8,000 became the temporary administrative centre of the province and is now a thriving popular town open all year round.
